The most unusual incentive trips destinations.
Ok, we can all pretty much agree that everybody loves a trip with the team to go skiing in the Alps, eat your own bodyweight worth of crepes in Paris or a go for a little wander around the city in LA. But it’s also a fact that not everybody likes to follow the beaten track and would much prefer to escape tourist-y spots.
Don’t worry, we totally get that! There are so many beautiful places all over this world that aren’t exactly the most popular destinations but are still somewhere where you can relax, go exploring for a few days with the team and have a time to remember.
These might not even be on your bucket list (yet!), but we think you may just change your mind once you go through this list we have put together.
Camiguin, Philippines
If you live in the UK, you’ll get exactly 1493 hours worth of sunshine a year. Spoiler alert: this is around 62 days out of 365. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise if all you want to do with your team is escape somewhere hot and bright whenever you get a chance.
Most travellers and teams that visit the Philippines may automatically think of places like El Nido or Coron, both located in the famous Palawan. Camiguin, however, is situated a bit further out from these places, making it the perfect getaway for a team who wants to visit a unique destination.
Located in the Bohol Sea, Camiguin is an island off the northern coast of Mindanao. To get to it, there are flights from Manila, the capital, straight to Cagayan de Oro or Cebu, where you can either catch the ferry to Camiguin or a 50-minute flight from Cebu to Camiguin’s capital, Mambajao.
If you and your team have an insatiable appetite for adventures, this may just be the perfect place for you. Activities on the island include:
Scuba diving
Volcano trekking
Quirky festivals
Coastal road motorbike rides
Not to mention everything would be topped off with some amazing views wherever you go. Thinking of booking something yet?
Guyana, South America
There’s a bit of a tropical theme going on here (only 62 days of sunshine!), so we couldn’t leave this beautiful location out of our list.
Located in the northern part of South America, Guyana is one of the least visited countries in the world, which comes as a complete surprise seeing the amount of natural beauty it has to offer.
Nearly 80% of the whole of Guyana’s territory houses some of the most biodiverse rainforests on this planet. Although these aren’t part of the Amazon, which is further south in the continent, this country overflows with natural landscapes and amazing fauna and flora.
It comes as no surprise that there are infinite activities you can do with your team in this place that won’t soon be forgotten. These include:
Canoe ride on local rivers to appreciate the landscape
Tour with a cowboy to find local wildlife
Horseback riding
Sightseeing in the historical capital, Georgetown
Seriously, have you started taking some notes for your team yet? Just saying.
Bovec, Slovenia
If you’re looking for a shorter break, this could be right up your team’s street. Only a 2-hour drive from the capital Ljubljana, this location is also further from the main points of tourist attractions in the country and a true hidden gem.
A small town with cobblestone streets surrounded by green and blue waters from the Soca River is a sight worth every effort. This is also where The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian film was shot, so that’s something else in Bovec you can brag about!
This place is surrounded by valleys with alpine cottages and wooden chalets, so a scenic drive in between mountains to reach the Soca River is an absolute must.
The other option is that you can just sit by the river with a book and give your team some moral support from afar - that’s definitely teamwork, right? Either sounds equally good to us!
Hallstatt, Austria
The scenery here may well remind you of a young Julie Andrews singing ‘The Sound of Music’ with her heart and soul on top of a mountain. Well, it is only an hour’s drive from where the film was shot, in Salzburg, so we can definitely see why!
This small town isn’t the most unusual destination per se, but it can lose visibility over more popular destinations in the country, like Vienna and Salzburg. Hallstatt overlooks the beautiful waters of the Hallstatt Lake, making it a picturesque scenery that could have quite literally been taken out from a storybook.
Just over a 3-hour drive from Vienna, Hallstatt offers some pretty impressive sights, such as:
Ice caves with frozen waterfalls and jaw-dropping ice formations
Some of the oldest salt mines in the world
Lake exploring on crafted wooden salt boats
Five Fingers Viewpoint with an amazing view of the Alps
If you’re thinking of booking something for your team to unwind and just enjoy nature and tranquility, this could well be on the top of your list.
Oman, Middle East
And since we’ve dived into the film and storybooks topic, this location can only take you back to flying carpets, magic lamps and sandy landscapes. Located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a really easy country to travel around with some great infrastructure.
Many visitors also recommend glamping in the desert as one of the many wonderful experiences you must have during your stay there.
From the capital Muscat and its lively markets to more natural sceneries, such as the Wahiba Sands, you can work your way around this unique destination whilst exploring all of its rich culture.
