Incentive travel - Mauritius

One of the things we are always incredibly excited about is the opportunity we get to visit many interesting locations when working with our clients. Over the years, we have worked in some beautiful locations, one of them being Mauritius. We had the privilege of attending an amazing incentive trip to the stunning island of Mauritius, hosted by Hosmark Hotels and their partners: Beachcomber Hotels and Mautourco (DMC).

Flying out of gloomy London with Air Mauritius on Friday afternoon, we landed in paradise on Saturday morning to blue skies and sunshine, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces!

Our first transfer of the trip was by helicopter, which was not only a real wow factor upon arriving to the island but also presented the perfect opportunity to get a first glimpse at the amazing landscapes and scenery the island had to offer.

We were greeted like royalty upon arriving at our first resort of the trip; the Victoria Beachcomber – which we came to realise is pretty much standard wherever you visit in Mauritius. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming!

After a quick check in and freshen up, we were whisked off to the races, a very popular Mauritian activity for a Saturday afternoon, for a day’s hospitality in our own private box. 

Our second day on the island was spent exploring, being split into teams and driving round the island in Mini Mokes. Our end destination was the beautiful Pamplemousse Botanical Gardens, the national botanical gardens of Mauritius, where amongst the palm trees and giant water lilies, we had a treasure hunt organised for us. 

Our beds for that evening were in our second resort of the week; the beautiful Trou aux Biches. That evening, the hotel hosted the most amazing dinner for the group – but not just a regular dinner – a dinner of beautiful Indian food served to us whilst we were dressed in the traditional Indian Saris! It was so special!

The following morning, we had a full show round of the resort to view the endless opportunities and flexible spaces the resort could offer to our clients and groups before being whisked away to another hotel in the Beachcomber Portfolio – Canonnier Beachcomber, another stunning property with an abundance of onsite activities for guests. We split into our same groups and played a fun game of crazy golf, prior to a fabulous sunset cruise and dinner – an unforgettable memory and one of our favourite parts of the trip.

Whilst on the island we had to seize the opportunity to visit the sugar plantation – a very interesting insight into how the most popular commodity on the island is used. Nothing is wasted, it’s not only used to make rum!  This was followed by a visit to Bois Cheri; the tea plantation. We were greeted with a lovely table of all the different teas available, all kinds of teas! Following a visit to the grounds we then had a fun time plucking tea leaves! It’s not as easy as it looks and you have to be quite precise with the type of leaf you pick.

For a slightly different option for gala dinners and events requiring a unique space, we visited a beautiful French colonial style chateau; Chateau Bel Ombre, a beautiful venue offering spectacular views of the countryside.

We departed late the next day reflecting on what was an amazing week on a beautiful island with so much to offer, Mauritius is the perfect destination for a very special incentive group.

We were so lucky to have been able to visit all of the Beachcomber Resorts whilst on the island and would not hesitate in placing a group in any of the properties. Mautourco planned the perfect programme for our group so we would highly recommend them as our destination management company (DMC) of choice for Mauritius.  Of course, thank you to Hosmark Hotels for a truly unforgettable trip.
