Copenhagen - Denmark

Working in the travel and events industry has allowed us to visit a number of beautiful locations around the globe. From scenic desert landscapes to tropical beaches on remote islands, there isn’t much we haven’t been able to experience, either through our incentive trips with clients or through invitations we’re lucky enough to receive.

This time, we were invited to Copenhagen and hosted by Choice Hotel to discover Denmark's capital’s wonders and explore its beautiful sights.

We were able to see a number of venues around the city and gain greater insight into what Copenhagen has got to offer to clients who may be interested in hosting their corporate event there.

Danes rank among the world's most happy people. And in Copenhagen, you'll certainly learn why, as we did on this three-day trip full of Christmas “Hygge”. The buzzing capital mixes royal history and modern architecture with sustainable living and a booming restaurant scene. One of the safest and cleanest cities in the world, it's also easy to navigate and most of the services are within walking distance. No wonder it's the most popular congress city in the Nordics.

One of our first stops upon arrival was the Hangar, Copenhagen’s new congress centre, back then due to open in August 2020, later postponed to March 2021. Featuring 2,500 sqm of space, there would be capacity for 2,150 people and it will be the biggest airport hotel and congress venue in Northern Europe. We already have some plans for this venue!

Our next stop was another congress centre; The Plant. As its name would suggest, the building is incredibly industrial with pipes running around the ceiling and many of the original features preserved giving the overall space a distinctly urban edge. The Plant is an amazing blank canvas of a venue, which could be transformed easily with simple uplighters and different types of furnishing.

That evening we dined at Restaurant Llama, one of the first restaurants to take inspiration from Latin America in Copenhagen and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

The restaurant draws on the flavours of the Latin American continent using Scandinavian products and recipes. In addition to the restaurant, Llama Bar offers Latin and South American cocktails and drinks from pisco sours and margaritas to an extensive mezcal and tequila menu.

Villa Copenhagen is the much talked about venue in Copenhagen. We were lucky enough to get a quick tour off the then unfinished site and whilst a lot of the space was still very much a building site, we did get to see a completed bedroom which was absolutely stunning and the hotel public areas such as the lobby and bars which also looked like they were going to exude style. The best part of the hotel is its location, right next to Tivoli Gardens and smack bang in the city centre.

Our final destination was Tivoli Gardens, the second oldest working amusement park in the world! Part of Tivoli Gardens' secret is that there is something for everyone. The scenery is beautiful with exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night, thousands of coloured lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique. The gardens are dressed for each season (it took them 2 weeks to change Halloween to Christmas) and are absolutely sensational!  Whilst there, we had lunch in one of their many restaurants Gemyse, which was undoubtedly the best food of the trip.  We dined in the conservatory which is in the park and was just so cosy and beautiful!

We had the most incredible weekend in Copenhagen and would highly recommend the city for any trip, business or pleasure. It is a gorgeous city with a lovely atmosphere!
